YOUTH VOTER EDUCATION
Our mission is to register, educate, and motivate 100% of eligible California teens to become lifelong voters.
Youth Voter Education
Youth Voter Education Materials
The
California Secretary of Education
has asked that all high schools in the state provide students with voter education and encourage eligible students to visit the
California Secretary of State Voter Registration
website to register or pre-register to vote.
Here’s a classroom lesson to make this job easy for you:
(1) Share these
two videos
(“Why Vote” and “Register to Vote in California”), created for the League of Women Voters of Palo Alto by a group of local high school students.
(2) Share (or print and share) this handout titled
League of Women Voters Guide For New California Voters
(3) Point your students who are 16+ years old toward the
California Secretary of State's Voter Registration
site and give them five minutes to register, pre-register, or check their registration (For best results, students need their DMV-issued ID and Social Security number.)
That’s it! Civics is easy!
